Kangfan Jing and Gangchao Zhang immigrated to Dallas about five years ago from China. Since arriving in Texas, both Jing and Zhang knew that one day they wanted to open their own restaurant. They worked in local eateries to gain knowledge and insight into the industry.

In December 2023, they opened JingHe Japanese in Mockingbird Station. The menu combines Japanese and Chinese cuisines and features dishes like Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu, spicy cucumber, kimchi, sukiyaki, ramen, sashimi, tempura shrimp and more.

For Jing and Zhang, it was important to bring a sense of Asian tradition and create an atmosphere where the customer feels engulfed in the culture.

“Being immigrants, you understand what it feels like to miss local cuisines in your hometown,” says Becky Jing, daughter of the owners.

In addition to the main menu, the restaurant offers a range of desserts including Japanese cheesecake, taiyaki, ice cream and their fan-favorite matcha tiramisu, which combines the delicate taste of green tea with the sweetness of tiramisu.

JingHe has an extensive cocktail and bar program, and you can find sake and Japanese whiskey along with their popular cocktail, the Mockingbird, which is served in a bird-shaped glass.

JingHe is consistently thinking of new ways to add to the menu and is hoping to expand to more locations with the success of this one.
