This marks the first time in team history that the Mavericks have advanced to this stage in their history. The win keeps MSU undefeated on the season, improving their record to 34-2. The Mavericks will face Nova Southeastern in the championship game on Saturday. The first five minutes of the game saw MSU take an early 11-5 lead, but the Buffs managed to claw back the deficit with a 9-0 run over the next 2:42 period. MSU outscored 16-9 down the stretch to take a 43-35 lead into halftime. The team shot 46.2% from the field in the first half, including a 7-of-20 (.350) showing from three point range, and held a 22-12 advantage in points in the paint.
