After it was announced that Birdville head coach Lon Holbrook would leave his position and move into an administrative role earlier this month, the school made a hiring decision on Thursday night.

Birdville ISD confirmed on Twitter/X that former Southlake Carroll offensive coordinator Chris Smith will be the school’s next head football coach.

Smith has been a member of Southlake Carroll’s football staff for four seasons and replaces Holbrook, who spent nine years as Birdville’s head coach.

Smith led Southlake Carroll to the state semifinals this past fall where they fell to the eventual state champions DeSoto.
