Residents of the Dallas area should brace themselves for a mixed bag of weather conditions in the upcoming week, with warm sunny days quickly turning to potential thunderstorms and gusty winds. According to the National Weather Service, today's forecast for Dallas is mostly sunny with a high near 78 degrees. However, south winds are expected to blow at 15 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph.
As we head into the weekend, Dallasites should expect partly sunny skies Saturday with highs nearing 79 degrees, and the breezy conditions should persist. The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook noting that "Breezy conditions with gusts up to 35-40 mph are possible late Friday morning and afternoon." These conditions could pose a risk to those driving high profile vehicles and residents are advised to securely fasten any outdoor items.
The overnight skies from Sunday into Monday will remain mostly cloudy with temperatures hovering in the low to mid-60s. The work week begins with the promise of sunshine on Monday morning, but this could quickly be overshadowed by a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm and rising to a 60 percent chance at night coupled with possible thunderstorms before transitioning back into showers after 1 am.
By midweek, the outlook appears clearer with sunny skies and cooler temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s. The National Weather Service also warns of the possibility of some severe weather on Monday. "There is a chance of thunderstorms across much of North Texas on Monday and Monday night. Some severe weather will be possible during this time," National Weather Service reports. However, Dallas residents can breathe a bit easier knowing that spotter activation is not expected at this time. Concluding the week, residents can look forward to mostly clear nights with lows dipping into the mid-to-upper 40s.
